Il s'utilise pour décrire un action qui était en train de se dérouler.

Attention:

Dans la consigne, tu dis qu'il faut utiliser le Prétérit en BE + ING

Mais , toutes les phrases ont le mot "when" ( =quand ) cela implique qu'il faut aussi  utiliser le Prétérit simple. ( pour les actions qui ont interrompu ce qui était en train de se passer )

Ex :  I was waiting  for barbara when her brother arrived.

( J'attendais ( j'étais en train d'attendre = se qui était en train de se passer ==> prétérit en BE +ING )  Barbara quand son frère est arrivé.( action courte dans la description de ce qui était en train de se passer.==> prétérit  )

(Ce prétérit peut se traduire par un passé composé ou un passé simple )
